Ending the year with wine and art

2011 was a busy year. I have done quite a lot and most of the things and it surprises me that I managed to fit them all in one year. The highlights were of course art related. The last few weeks of the year were spent in art galleries which is always nice. I always enjoy spending time in museums and galleries. These visits are now recorded using my iPhone which allows me to share the pictures, even though they aren't that fantastic. But I'll do a little round-up with the pictures anyway...

My work in Rare: Honours graduate exhibition in SASA Gallery and a few extra installation views of the rest of the show.

Jenny Allnutt
Credits: Nathan Farrant (foreground), Natasha Natale (glass work on black plinth), Laura Wills (back right, installation on floor), Arlon Hall (wall left, large black and white diptych) and Sally Baker (wall right, small black and white paintings)
Credits: Zoe Woods (glass work on plinths), Kerri-Ann Wright (wall left, prints of birds), Patrick Rees (right, mixed media installation)

I also took my little iPhone with me to other exhibition openings and captured the work that caught my fancy. FeltSpace rarely fails to show interesting work such as the work below by Sandra Uray-Kennett in the exhibition The Lexicon of Lycanthropy. Subtle, quiet, thoughtful and also humorous. I had a giggle when I read the medium used in each piece, for the medium Uray-Kennett wrote things such as 'paper, keys, and air' and 'shadows' for other work.

Also a very late in the year show at Format featuring work by Brad Lay. The paintings in this exhibition are visual recordings of waves. Lay straps a marker or pen to some sort of buoyant device and lets the water make the markings on the canvas.

Well that's it. A year gone, and more seen and shared.
