round up

I haven't properly reflected and rounded up 2011 yet. I posted about the exhibitions I went to see in December, but I'll indulge in a little more.

My own arts/career accomplishments have been surprising and pleasant.
▲ I finished my degree with honours and now get to make work that wont be graded - yay!
▲ Two gallery jobs that I love going to. Now I have real grown up weekends!
▲ The launch of my own website/online portfolio.
▲ An exhibition in Hong Kong.
▲ Included in the Pingyao International Photography (PIP) festival in China.
▲ Going to the PIP festival! Thanks to the shared effort of my friends and I.
▲ Using more analogue photographic technologies - see below.

I read less books this year but still got to enjoy a few:
▲ Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore
▲ Gail Jones, Sixty Lights
▲ Kazuo Ishiguro, Never Let Me go
▲ Ian McEwan, Solar

Other nice things...
▲ Had a visit from my Mother and young sister early in the year
▲ Visiting my family in Western Australia at the very last minute for the Christmas holidays.
▲ Got addicted to Mad Men

What's next...

▲ More of making work of course
▲ Laneway festival (still need to buy those tickets!)
▲ An upcoming solo exhibition in Western Australia, opening this February. I have a real catalogue with a real essay by a real writer, Hila Shachar.
▲ Moving house
▲ And also I have been included in the Helpmann Academy graduate exhibition
▲  Buy nice clothes for the gallery jobs and my own exhibition openings.

Hope this year is better than the last.

All images by yours truly. Some have not been published online before but most can be found on my site or flickr.
