Tam Ochiai

Latest art crush is Tam Ochiai. When I first saw his work I thought it was by a young female artist.

Tam Ochiai is represented by Team Gallery NY and Tomio Koyama Gallery, Tokyo.

Sophie Calle

I haven't written anything here in a while. My life is rather complicated and full. But I wanted to share something with someone.

All images are from Galerie Perrotin.

Fünf Mal Wien. An interesting book project by Philipp Mentrup. A series of books with varying perspectives and interpretations of one location.

Copywriter vs Art Director

I came across this series of images on Swiss Miss. This visual debate highlights the difference between a copywriter and an art director. I must say I like the looks of both though I probably lean more to the right (words I never thought I would write!)

September/October exhibitions

I had intended to have more time to write here but I have had no time at all just to sit and think. What I have been doing a lot of though is going to exhibition openings. Above are images from the various exhibitions that I give a good rating.

From top: Lee Salomone: Other Voices/Altre VociAustralian Experimental Art Foundation (AEAF); Matthew Bradley: Space Chickens Help Me Make Apple Pie, Fontanelle Gallery + Studios; Katie Barber: Perceivable (painted) Objects, FELTspace.

I will share a bit more soon.

Moonrise Kingdom

Wes Anderson's most recent film, Moonrise Kingdom, is full of stylistic retro delight. Set in 1965 on a small island off the coast of New England, the story follows a pair of star-struck 12 year old lovers as they plan and make their escape into the wilder parts of the tiny island they live on. The island is turned upside down as the authorities hunt them down and a violent storm threatens to come onshore. Anderson found the perfect ingredients for a cast: Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand and Edward Norton, and mixed this with hyper-real costume and set design (major swoon for the portable record player!) Definitely a must watch this year.
